Caring for a SpouseMy wife has just been admitted to hospital again today. Have been caring for my wife since her brain haemorrhage and stroke 9 1/2 years ago. During this time she has made a significant recovery but is still very handicapped being dependent upon her electric wheelchair for mobility and with a cognitive deficit. Unfortunately during this time she's acquired new problems, particularly a hiatus hernia which bleeds causing anaemia. This is the reason for hospital admission today as she brought up a lot a black blood. Over the Christmas break I've scanned a lot of photos including from before her brain haemorrhage. It's made me more aware of how the relationship has shifted from being a loving husband to being a caring carer. So one New Year's resolution is to work at recovering something of that pre-stroke husband and wife relationship and being more loving. I'd be delighted to make contact with others in a similar position across the world.
